Mangaluru: Mangaluru girl Ruth Clare D’Silva has secured All India first rank in Chartered Accountants (CA) July 2021 examination (Old scheme) conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

The results were declared on Monday September 13. She is the first candidate to secure top rank in CA exams from this region.

The CA Final examinations were held between July 5 and July 19. The CA Final (Old scheme) Group 1 examination were conducted on July 5, 7, 9, and 11 and the CA Final (old scheme) Group 2 exams were conducted on July 13, 15, 17, and 19.

Ruth completed schooling in St. Theresa School and an Undergraduate course from Mangalore University Distance Education. She had completed her CA articleship at CA Vivian Pinto & Co, Balmatta. She is the daughter of Rosy Maria D’Silva and Ruffert D’Silva.

Speaking to NewsKarnataka Ruth said, “I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the results. For few subjects, I have taken the coaching, but most of the subjects I have studied by myself. ”

“It was a little tough attempt as generally CA exams are tough. I’m very relieved and happy that I have topped the CA examination. All the hard work I had put in has paid off. I want to thank my parents and my family for encouraging and supporting me constantly,” she expressed.

An elated Vivian said, “Ruth is very good in her communication skills and always looking out for challenging assignments in the course of training. Her strength was her belief in her capabilities and we were fully impressed with her work ethic.”

Ruth’s mentor and Convenor of the Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL) Nandagopal remarked that Ruth has created history. She is an example of a ‘never quit’ attitude and consistently pursued exam after exams for the past couple of years without deterring a bit.
