Govt School roof collapse, UT Khader

Mangaluru: The old tiled roof of the old building of the Government Higher Primary School in Kinya village fell on Monday night May 17 due to severe rains for the past two days.

Following the incident, MLA U. T. Khader, education department officials, Gram Panchayat President, and revenue authorities visited the site.

According to sources, the 25-year-old Higher Primary School building had been in a condition of disrepair for the past two years. Students were not allowed to enter the dangerous areas of the building, which had been cordoned off. Some classes were shifted to a madrassa nearby.

However, classes are still being held in the classroom next to the old building. Fortunately, the incident happened late at night, when no one was there at the school.
