Mangaluru: The Indian Coast Guard (Karnataka), organised “Run for Unity” on October 31, on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas-2019 at their headquarters at the Panambur Beach.
Chairman Organ Donation India Foundation and chief promoter of the Pandit Health Resort & Spa, Lal Goel was the chief guest and flagged off the event. DIG S S Dasila TM Commander Indian Coast Guard (Karnataka) presided over the programme.
During his address to the gathering, Goel recalled the contribution of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel to the country, especially the merging of approximately 565 princely states in the Republic of India. He also paid tribute to Acharya Narendra Dev, famous social reformer, on his birth anniversary and to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.
DIG Dasila, in his address, said that it is only because of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel that India could merge 563 princely states without any bloodshed. He appealed to all those who were present to follow his footsteps.
On the occasion, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge was administered to all by Dy Comdt Rajkumar and the route for “Run for Unity” was explained by Dy Comdt Rajeev Kumar. The event was co-ordinated by Dy Comdt Deepika Dhiman and supported by Rotary Club Moodbidri.
