Indian Mujahideen terror suspects brought to city court

Mangaluru: Three persons involved in terrorist activities and allegedly connected to Indian Mujahideen were produced in the city court on Thursday August 6.

TerrorThe third additional sessions courts heard the terror suspects, who were alleged to be involved in connection with the seize of explosives at Mukkachery, Ullal in 2007.

According to the reports, Syed Mohammed Naushad, Ahmed Bava Abubakker and Shabbir Bhatkal were the only three produced in the court even though thirteen people have been booked in the case.

The police sources said that five have been absconding and four others – Javed Ali, Mohammed Ali, Mohammed Rafiq and Fakir Ahmed – are out on bail.

While Naushad and Abubakker were brought to the city by Mumbai police, Shabbir Bhatkal who is lodged in Mangaluru district jail was brought by the city police.

Earlier in 2007 the police had raided a house at Mukkachery in Ullal and found explosives. Seven persons including two from Ullal and four from Mangaluru had been arrested in the case. The accused are facing charges under anti-terror laws and illegal possession of weapon.

Investigation had revealed that the arrested in the case of the seized explosives had links with Indian Mujahideen co-founder and other suspected terrorists’ activities in the city.
