International Children’s Film Festival office inaugurated in city

Mangaluru: The International Children’s Film Festival (ICFF) office was inaugurated by district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai at the DC office premises on October 31.

Rajendra Singh Babu, Chairman, Karnataka Film Academy said “In order to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the 10th International Children’s film festival (ICFF 2015) will be organized in Mangaluru and Udupi between November 22 and 26.”

 “For the first time a film festival is being organized in Mangaluru. For the past many years, the international film festival was organized in Bengaluru. And to continue this this festival in Mangaluru, we want the parents from other districts to come with their children to Mangaluru and watch the films” he added.

Praising the rich culture and tradition of Mangaluru, Babu said, “Mangaluru should become a National destination for International Children’s Film Festival as Mangaluru is a city which has prominent tourist and sightseeing places and culture. Children from other parts of the Nation and the world should come to watch movies along with their parents and explore the rich culture and tradition of Mangaluru.”

The inauguration of ICFF will take place at Panambur Beach on November 22, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has consented to inaugurate the International film festival. Major events will be held in Pilikula Nisargadhama.

“We have received 200 films from 35 countries. The timings of the festival will be 9 am to 3 pm. Films will be screened in 9 theatres and 3 multiplexes and since it is an international film festival, there will be judges of national and international levels. The juries will interact with the children and know their opinion about the films and the best films will be awarded”, he said.

Celebrities from South India, Bollywood and international film fraternity are expected to be part of ICFF 2015. Cultural programmes and screening of films will be held at the Panambur Beach in Mangaluru and Udupi.

For the first time the films will also be screened in Sullia, Belthangady, Puttur, Karkala and other taluk headquarters simultaneously.

He urged the media to be ambassadors of the International children’s film festival because it is a non-profit organization committed to films for children and said this for the first time we are hosting it in Mangaluru, and we want to make Mangaluru a National destination for the Children’s film festival.

Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, ADC Kumar, MLC Ivan D’Souza, P V Mohan and others were also present.
