Janata Dal has their future planned in DK

Mangaluru: The Janata Dal (Secular) party has planned their actions for the future and informed the media that they have selected their Moodbidri candidate already. Though the next Assembly election is two years away, JDS Unit Vice President Amaranath Shetty has already declared Ashwin Pereira to be the first announced candidate in Dakshina Kannada.

After former minister Amaranath Shetty said that he is not contesting in the elections, Ashwin came forward to represent the party from Moodbidri constituency.

“A party meeting was conducted in Moodbidri recently and Ashwin was deemed best candidate. When JDS National President H D Deve Gowda and State President H D Kumaraswamy were informed about the decision we made in Moodbidri, they instructed us to officially announce it so that the candidate can dedicate himself to the party better”, said Amaranath Shetty.

“A conference will be conducted within the next three months on a district level to keep the party workers informed about the agenda and to prepare them for the elections”, he added.

Names of the various Presidents of JDS wings were announced at the meeting. Vasanth Poojary of Mangaluru South, D P Hasanabba of Mangaluru North, Mohandas Shetty of Mangaluru, B Mohan of Bantwal, I C Kailas Gowda of Puttur, Dayakar Alva Kumbra of Sullia, Praveen Chandra Jain of Belthangady and Lakshminarayana Adyanthaya of Vittla will be the Presidents of their respective blocks.

B Mohammad Kunhi, Dakshina Kannada JDS President announced that the candidates will be active in their constituencies and that the list of candidates will be finalized by the year end.

Ashwin Periera showered praises over the members of the party and the party leaders for making him the candidate. He said, “I am very confident about winning in my constituency since I have been actively taking part in various party work for the past 18 years and my experience in campaigning for the previous elections will help me get to the top.”

JDS part leaders M B Sadashiv, Mohandas Shetty and S P Chengappa were also present at the meeting.
