Mangaluru: In the presence of N Muthappa Rai, the founder president of Jaya Karnataka, the ‘Jaya Karnataka Yuva Sammilana’ was inaugurated in the city on Saturday, October 24..
The ‘Yuva Sammilana’ was organized by the Youth Wing of Jaya Karnataka.
After inaugurating the youth convention, sharing his past experiences, Muthappa Rai said, “I have seen politics very closely in my life. My painful days started when I became a politician and when I was associated with some selfish politicians. Few politicians went to an extent of having me debarred from entering this district. This made me feel so humiliated and angry towards politics that I decided to stay away from it and thought of starting an apolitical organization for a social cause and to serve the needy when I was in jail.”
He called upon the youth to join the organization and fight against corrupt officials, our corrupt system and said, “Our organization is unselfish and does not belong to any political party. We don’t ask for any votes, but request everyone to vote for a transparent politician. We started the movement with just 18 people, 8 years ago, and today, our organization has more than 20 lakh active members and activists across the state. I am not selfish and neither is the organization. I spent half of my income for a social cause and want to always be with the needy people.”
Further, advising the youth he said, “Youth are being misled by politicians for their selfish reasons, but you should be careful and never take the wrong path. Youth must become good leaders and serve the needy and the society, doing only good work. In Dakshina Kannada, Jaya Karnataka’s presence is not very strong because the district lacks unity. DK is divided in the name of religion and caste by politicians for the vote bank.”
“But we ensure that Jaya Karnataka will, in the coming days, become the strongest organization in Dakshina Kannada and we need youth support to fight for our cause. Our organization should be the voice of the poor and should raise voices against corruption. Corrupt officers should have fear of our organizations.”
He also appreciated the efforts of youth wing president, Sahaj J Rai who was appointed eight months ago for organizing the programme.
MLA Shakunthala Shetty, said, “Muthappa Rai and his Jaya Karnataka organisation is doing various social works, which the government should have done. Through his social service he has become the “anna” (brother) of the entire Karnataka state. Muthappa Rai and Jaya Karnataka workers asked for the people to vote for me during the last elections. People like rickshaw drivers, shop vendors are coming forward to join this organization now, because the organisation serves a purpose.” She then promised her support for all the good works of the organisation.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel applauded Muthappa Rai and his organisation and said, “My support is always there for this organization and for its pro-social works in the district,” and speaking about the Yettinahole issue added, “We are not against providing water to drought-hit areas, we will make sure the parched districts will get water and also save our district from losing the water source.”
B N Jagadeesh, state president of Jaya Karnataka presented the key note address.
