Mangaluru: “The State government and the police have been supporting Kannada writer and rationalist Prof K S Bhagwan for making controversial remarks on Hindu gods”, claimed Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Wednesday, September 30 during a press meet.
With a demand to arrest the writer, VHP provincial working president M B Puranik said “Bhagwan is an educated professional. He must not get into such tactics. He continues to make derogatory remarks against Hindu gods and the Bhagavad Gita. Though FIR has been filed, he has not been arrested”.

“He is being backed by chief minister Siddaramaiah, the state government and the police, which is why he has not been arrested yet”, he alleged.

“Over 30 complaints and FIR’s have been filed in two police stations, but Bhagwan is still not arrested, rather the police have been providing security”, he stressed.

“The police should arrest him immediately. He should be stopped from making such derogatory statements, or it would lead to unwanted consequences in society,” he warned.

Jagadish Shenava, Bhujanga Kulal and others were present.
