Mangaluru: The first Kambala race of the 2021-22 season, the Hokkadigoli Veera-Vikrama Jodukere Kambala, was held on Sunday December 5.
The Mahishamardini Kambala Committee organised the event, which took place at the race tracks at Hokkadigoli, that is located on the border of Eliyanagodu in Bantwal Taluk and Arambodi in Belthangady Taluk of the Dakshina Kannada District.
According to sources, a total of 176 pairs of water buffalo competed in various categories.
The races in honour of late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, sponsored by Bengaluru’s ‘Dodmane Puneeth Rajkumar Abhimani Balaga’ under the leadership of Kiran Kumar M. and Yashodhara Mahabala Poojari, were the main attractions this year.
The inaugural race of the famous Kambala race drew thousands of people.
