Mangaluru: Shivarama Krishnan, regional sales manager, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL inaugurated the 9th showroom of Kanchana Hyundai, dealers of Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), at Suratkal, Tadanbail on Wednesday, October 24. HMIL is India’s second largest car manufacturer and largest passenger car exporter. GJ Patil, regional sales officer inaugurated the workshop. The spare parts department and body shop were inaugurated by Raman and Sunil Doddamane of HMIL respectively.
Prasad Raj Kanchan, managing director of Kanchana Hyundai was beaming with happiness at the inaugural. He went down memory lane during his address to the gathering at the well organized inaugural ceremony. “ Our journey began in Udupi, but now we are spread across Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and North Karnataka. Our sales have touched, 000 cars annually and we service nearly 30,000 cars. This has given us a turnover of nearly Rs 300 crore per annum which was achieved with the support of our customers and staff. I thank them for their support and dedication. We plan to expand all over the state” he said.
The latest version of Santro car was launched at the event. Prasad handed over the keys to the first three customers of the car.
The all-new Santro:
All-new 2018 Hyundai Santro will come with a 1.1-litre petrol engine with 68 hp and an optional CNG kit with 58 hp. Magna and Asta variants will be available with the optional AMT. The Santro has seven colour options in five variants – D-Lite – Rs 3.89 lakh, Era – Rs 4.24 lakh, Magna – Rs 4.57 lakh, Sportz – Rs 4.99 lakh, and Asta – Rs 5.45 lakh.
The new Santro is indeed all new and boasts of a completely new design compared to the older version but continues with its tallboy stance. Dimensions of the new Santro are 3610 mm of length, 1645 mm width, 1560 mm height, and the wheelbase is 2400 mm. The cabin is now more spacious than before and the high seating position provides a clearer view to the driver.
AMT transmission will be available in Magna and Asta trims. CNG kit prices will vary from Rs 5.23 lakh to Rs 5.64 lakh… On the inside, it gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. In terms of safety, the new Santro comes with ABS & EBD and driver-side airbag as standard equipment across all variants and the top Asta trim comes with dual airbags up front.
Hyundai India says the new Santro will be aimed at young families in the country, with a target to sell about 8000 to 9000 units every month. With introductory prices starting at Rs 3.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and segment-first features, the new Santro will have an edge of its competition like Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
