Mangaluru: This boy has shone as he strived towards the path of achievement. Overcoming his disability, this specially-abled boy has done well in Pre-University Examination like he did while he was in SSLC. Kaushik, a resident of Kanchikarapete in Bantwal has scored 524 marks in Commerce stream and thus passed in distinction.
Kaushik, a student of Alva’s PUC in Moodabidri, had scored 424 marks in SSLC. Motivated by the love shown by the people of the village, he was even more enthused to face the test of life boldly. Of course, it was supported by Alva’s Educational Institutions in Moodabidri. Kaushik was provided with books, learning materials and uniforms under the free education scheme.
Kaushik was born with no arms. On the right side there is no sign of a hand while on the left there is a arm-like structure which extends till elbow.
Kaushik’s mother Jalajakshi, a beedi roller placed a chalk between his toes to write the letters, which was his first lesson.
He had studied from Class 1 to 10 at SVS School in Bantwal. He listened to the theory taught in the class carefully. He would come home and memorise it.
If he had problems with Mathematics, he would find solutions in college. “There were no problems except for the trouble of travelling for one-and-a-half hours daily in a bus. So, my studies went on smoothly,” Kaushik said.
Kaushik also has a god-given talent for pencil drawing.
