Mangaluru: Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru, a District level Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Karnataka has submitted a memorandum to Venkatesh Mallya, Assistant Manager, Indigo Airlines, to restore the early morning and late evening flights the operator was earlier flying to connect Mangaluru with Bengaluru and Mumbai.
KCCI has noted that Mangaluru is one of the fastest-growing non-metro cities in South India, and has a history of various industries and businesses. There are more than 12,000 people working in the IT/ITES industry in this region, in addition to large scale industries such as MRPL, MCF, MSEZ, etc. and umpteen engineering colleges and hospitals in and around our city.
This being the case, we have pressing demand from our corporates, businessmen and individuals in the city to restart the early morning flight from Mangaluru to Bengaluru which was previously departing at 7.00 am from Mangalore, and has been withdrawn currently, putting them hardships to travel to Bengaluru. Restarting the same would make it very convenient for them to attend meetings in Bangalore and return to Mangalore by Indigo’s late evening flight.
Also, restarting the late-night flight to Mumbai needs to be strongly considered by Indigo as it helps the corporates and businessmen in Mumbai to come to Mangalore by the early morning flight which is currently operating and go back to Mumbai comfortably by late-night flight if restarted. And, it will definitely be a blessing to all the international passengers as that flight can connect them to many international flights flying out of Mumbai.
Given the passenger increase that we have been seeing in the last few months and years and also the huge scope for IT/ITES and Tourism in this region, we are certain that the demand for these flights is going to increase significantly in the days to come.
KCCI has earnestly requested the airline operator to reintroduce both these flights at the earliest and leverage these sectors further for your business.
