Mangaluru: “Knowledge without love is just information but knowledge with love is wisdom. If there is knowledge with love, then only it makes a person wise and integrated “, said Mangaluru Bishop Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha on Wednesday, December 5.
He was addressing a gathering during the inaugural programme of the new school building of St. Aloysius Gonzaga CBSE School. He said, “Knowledge is knowledge, but wisdom is not knowledge. Education opens various avenues for us to prosper in our life. It is not true that all educated people automatically become virtuous and wise. There is a need to give prominence to knowledge with love as only that can help us build a strong society”, he said.
The bishop lauded the achievements of St. Aloysius College in the field of education. “St. Aloysius College has seen steady progress over the years. This institution is a model education institution in early and higher education. This educational institution is a great blessing to society. It helped the people to build a strong integrated personality. It also earns us recognition and respect in family and society”, he said and appealed to the students to have sincerity, honesty, compassion and commitment in life.
Rev Dr Stanislaus D’Souza, Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province who inaugurated the school building said, “The new building will enrich the students and enhance the whole learning process among them. The college has a long tradition of quality education. It has given the best facilities and quality education. Students should utilise the opportunity being provided in this educational institution”, he said.
Meanwhile, designer of the new school building Lawrence Cutinha, contractor Richard Rodrigues, site engineer Harish and former headmaster of St. Aloysius High School Fr. JB Mendonca were felicitated on the occasion.
Prior to the programme, the guests were welcomed to the venue in a grand manner. Bishop Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha blessed the occasion. Director of Little Rock Indian School Brahmavar, Udupi, Prof. Mathew Ninan unveiled the plaque of the new building.
St. Aloysius Gongaza School Principal Grace Noronha, Manager Fr. Melwin Mendonca, Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society’s Rev. Fr. Denzil W Lobo and Rector Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz among others were present.
