Kollur temple donation box collection reaches Rs 1cr

Mangaluru: Kolluru Mookambika temple, one of the famous temples of the state has created a new record in the monthly Hundi (donation box) collection. For the first time in the history of the temple, Hundi collection crossed Rs one crore mark in the month of September.

According to the temple authorities, temple Hundi has been opened every month and an average collection per month is around 70 to 80 lakhs. But in September it was crossed Rs one crore mark with total Hundi collection recording Rs 1.10 crores.

Another interesting finding of the Hundi collection is currencies of UAE, Australian dollar US dollar and UK pounds in the Hundi. “These currencies account for around Rs one lakh, said sources.

Kolluru temple, which is managed by the state Mujarai department is one of the famous Devi temples of the state. It has a huge number of devotees in Kerala and Tamilnadu.
