Kasaragod: Koragas under the umbrella of Manjeshwara region Koraga development union took out a silent protest rally and later picketed Manjeshwar taluk office demanding land rights, complaining of official neglect.
Hundreds of families in Pavoor Gerukatte area have been deprived of land rights for several decades, protestors alleged.
During Madras Presidency, the land was left for Koragas . However, due to official neglect the Koraga community has been deprived of rights and are running from pillar to post seeking documents related to land rights, protestors alleged.
There is no other option apart from protests and picketing taluk office is the first step to ensure community is not deprived of their genuine rights, Koraga leaders said addressing the gathering.
Koraga development union president Robert Pavoor addressed the gathering on the occasion along with many other leaders.
Koraga union Vice president Kogga led the procession and another leader named Muthadi took lead during picketing.
