Mangaluru: Various problems faced by passengers of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses were addressed by the general public to the authorities in a public meeting held at the KSRTC building in Bejai on Friday, October 21. As many as 50 people who had submitted their memorandum to the KSRTC officials were present to hear solutions for their problems.

The first ever public meeting conducted by the KSRTC heads had seen various complaints regarding the bus services in several routes. “We have been instructed by the state government to organize such interactions through which we can receive suggestions from the public so that we can better ourselves. This is the first public meeting held in the district and we will have such meetings in Puttur and Bantwal next and regularly in the district every three months’, said KSRTC Mangaluru Divisional Controller Vivekananda Heggade.

The participants of the meeting were merchants, students and working professionals who travel long or short distances every day to reach their destination in KSRTC buses. Several people who had seen certain flaws in the bus services voiced their opinion.

Many topics pertaining to the lack of bus service to rural areas, bus stops, irregular bus timings, cleanliness and many more were questioned by the public. Vivekananda Heggade heard the public about what they had to say and gave them adequate and satisfactory responses. Though the people were agitated about various issues, it took a while for Heggade to calm them down with his solutions for each problem
