Mangaluru: Vittal police has filed a case against a man on charges of raping a 28-year-old unwed woman, who gave birth to a baby boy at Lady Goschen hospital here.
The lady, hailing from Veerakamba in Bantwal informed the hospital staff that she had been raped by a man nine months ago. According to her, a man named Praveen Belthangady had lured her of cash and gold and took her to a lodge in Uppinangady and raped her. Later, he gave her Rs 100 and asked to remain tight-lipped about the matter threatening her of dire consequences.
The hospital staff informed Vittal police who took a statement from the lady and filed a case against Praveen. The police team led by Sub Inspector Prakash Devadiga has launched a manhunt for him.
