Mangaluru: The state government will introduce a single window and time-bound system, which will be formally launched by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on December 15. The system intends to construction clearance and layout plans approvals hassle-free.

Informing about the new system, Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader said, ” the licence and approvals for building plans and layouts would be issued online with the single window system to avoid middlemen menace and facilitate greater transparency in services. The public can submit their applications with appropriate data online and the system would take care of the rest if everything was in order”, he said and added that if the officials of Town Planning do not provide the approval within a month, they would be held responsible.

“The licences would be issued, after taking No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the competent authorities. After submitting applications with relevant data online, the applicants would get an SMS to his or her mobile phone from the authorities, with regard to the date of spot inspection. After the spot inspection, the approval will be provided to the applicant. Earlier, developers had to visit each department to get NOC. Now, with the online initiative, the applicant just needs to upload the application and the authorities concerned will get the NOC from the departments concerned”, Khader added.

Coming down heavily on Mysuru MP Pratap Simha who had informed that Central government also released Rs 546 crore to the flood victims of Kodagu district, U T Khader said, even a single rupee has not been released to the flood victims of Kodagu district. “Though Rs 546 crore has been released from the central government under its National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), the same amount needs to be shared by the eight districts of Karnataka. It can not be used to help the flood victims of Kodagu only”, Khader informed.
