Mangaluru: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai met veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary at the latter’s residence on Wednesday before filing his nomination papers for the upcoming elections in the state.
Six-time MLA Rai will be contesting the polls from Bantwal Assembly constituency.
During the meeting Poojary is said to have predicted landslide victory for the Congress party. Appreciating the service-minded approach of Rai, Poojary said that a leader like Rai is a blessing for his constituency as well as for the party.
A Congress loyalist Poojary had held various portfolios in the Congress administration. Equations between Poojary and Congress was rumoured to have turned sour due to hostile relations between Rai and the veteran Congress leader.
Off late Poojary had been very vocal about several policies of Siddaramaiah government at the state. Due to his harsh criticism there were rumors that Poojary was parting ways with the party. However the bonhomie shared between AICC chief Rahul Gandhi and Poojary during the formers visit to Mangaluru put rest to all the speculations.
