Legendary scholar Moulana Nadwi no more

Bhatkal: Legendary Islamic scholar and principal of Jamia Islamia Moulana Abdul Bari Nadwi, passed away on Wednesday evening. He was 54.

Nadwi completed his religious education in Nadwathul Ulema, Lucknow and in 1983, he joined Jamia Islamia Institute, the biggest Islamic school of the Shaafi Madhab in South India. Under his leadership, Jamia Islamia became one of the best Islamic institutions in the country.

Nadwi was bedridden from past few months. He was being treated at a where he was under treatment. His death was deeply mourned in entire Bhatkal and elsewhere. As a mark of tribute, holiday was declared in all educational institutions in Bhatkal and shops were shut down.

Nadwi’s funeral was held at the Jamia Masjid at 10:00 am on Thursday February 18.
