Lifeguards rescue youth from drowning at Panambur Beach

Mangaluru: An 18-year-old youth from West Bengal was saved by Lifeguards at Panambur Beach on Friday, October 19.

The rescued youth has been identified as Vishwajith Sahu, son of Ravindra Sahu, a resident of Kharikar district in West Bengal. Sources in Panambur Beach informed that Vishwajith is an employee of Big Bag Food Ltd, a food bag manufacturing company at Ganjimatt, who had stepped into the water was dragged away by strong currents. Lifeguards of Panambur Beach, responding to his shouts for help, succeeded in rescuing him.

Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yathish Baikampady informed that along with this rescue operation, 300 lives were rescued in Panambur, Someshwar and Kaup Beaches since 2008.
