Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has conferred its Lifetime Achievement Award on Sri Pangal Rabindra Nayak (97), former Managing Director of Hanuman Transport Co (P.) Ltd., Udupi. A delegation comprising Association President Sri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai, Secretary, Sri K. Vilas Kumar and Sri Maroor Rammohan Pai, the Past President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) called on Sri Pangal Rabindra Nayak at his residence in Udupi on Wednesday, 6th February 2019 and honoured him with garland, shawl and citation.
Sri Pangal Rabindra Nayak was born on 9th February 1922 in the temple town of Udupi. He joined Hanuman Transport Company in 1951. After getting work experience, he was elevated to the post of Managing Director in 1972 and served the company successfully for several decades. For some time, he was the Managing Director of Sri Gajanana Motor Transport Co. Ltd. also. A postgraduate in Physics from Bombay University, he had briefly worked for the Royal Indian Navy as a technical assistant. Later, during 1945-50, he worked as a technologist for Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.
Sri Pangal Rabindra Nayak’s is a great pioneer, innovator and an outstanding administrator. His vision, dynamism and extraordinary achievements are an inspiration to all.
Lifetime Achievement Award of Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has conferred annually on a veteran of the automobile, automobile spare parts or tyre trade of undivided Dakshina Kannada. By tradition, the award is given during the Annual General Meeting of the Association. Due to the recipients’ advanced age and frail health, it was decided to bestow the award at his residence.
