Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary has predicted that the Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition candidate Mithun Rai will win the upcoming Lok Sabha election with a huge vote margin. Meanwhile, Poojary also announced that he would not go to Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple or any other religious centre if Mithun Rai was defeated.
During the Congress workers’ conference at Town Hall on Monday, March 25, Poojary claimed that Lord Shiva had appeared in his dreams the previous night and said Mithun Rai would win this time. “It is not the first time that Lord Shiva has come in my dream and predicted something. As Lord Shiva himself has assured of helping Mithun Rai win, I hope that Congress would defeat Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel this time. If Mithun Rai loses in the election, I will not go to Kudroli temple thereafter. I visit churches and mosques also occasionally. If Mithun fails to become MP, I will stop visiting every religious centre”, he said.
Prior to delivering his speech, Poojary invited Mithun Rai’s family members including his father Dr. Mahabala Rai to the dais. Mahabala Rai and his brothers went there with teary eyes. Poojary asked them not to shed tears assuring that Mithun would succeed in his first attempt.
Janardhan Poojary is Narayanaguru of Kaliyuga: Mithun Rai
The whole programme witnessed an emotional moment when Poojary took the mike and started speaking. Mithun Rai addressed the gathering with teary eyes. “I am very lucky to have the support of all the senior leaders like B Janardhan Poojary. I have a lot of respect for Poojary and I treat him as the Narayanaguru of Kaliyuga (present era). I seek votes from the public in order to develop the district and bring communal harmony here. Give me a chance and I will show what development is and establish communal harmony”, he said.
Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader said that though Nalin had been in power as an MP since 10 years, no major projects had come to the district during his tenure. Now, the union government is attempting to privatise major government undertakings like the airport, NMPT, CPCRI (Central Plantation Crops Research Institute) among others. Attempts are on to merge our prestigious Vijaya Bank with other banks. If our Janardhana Poojary had been the MP in our district, he would have definitely opposed all these attempts”, he said.
Former minister B Ramanath Rai urged Nalin Kumar Kateel to release a white paper about his achievements stating that he had done nothing during his 10-year term as MP.
Prior to the conference, Mithun Rai had visited Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple, Rosario Church and a Masjid in Bunder area and sought the blessings of the Almighty and religious leaders. While visiting Kudroli temple, Mithun met Janardhana Poojary and took his blessings as well.
Congress and Janata Dal (S) leaders Amarnath Shetty, Mohammed Kunhi, Abhayachandra Jain, Shakunthala Shetty and Mamatha Gatti among others were present.
