M’luru-Kasargod buses to stop plying for a week from Aug 1: MP Kateel

Mangaluru: State-run and private buses plying from the district to the Kasargod will be stopped for a week from August 1, amid cases of Covid infection rising in neighboring Kerala, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He presided over a meeting of the district disaster management authority for the control of Covid-19 infection held on Saturday July 31, at the DC office.

Further DC Dr Rajendra KV said, “The state government has directed that the deputy commissioners should take responsibility to check the spread of Covid cases. The district administration is putting its maximum efforts to check the spread of the virus. The DC also said that as per the guidelines of the state government, people coming from the bordering state or from Kerala will be only allowed with RT-PCR negative reports.”

“Lockdown will be imposed in the district if the number of Covid-19 cases spike. Thus, people should strictly adhere to the Covid appropriate behaviour, by wearing masks, maintaining social distance,” he added.

MCC mayor Premanand Shetty, ZP CEO Dr. Kumar, SP Rishikesh Sonawane, MCC commissioner Akshay Shridhar were present.

Further DC Rajendra KV has issued an order stating, No social, political, religious activities and festivals are restricted in the district. Marriages are allowed only with fifty people. Temples, Masjids, Churches, Gurudwaras, and all the holy places will remain closed. 

The order added strict actions will be undertaken against the violators of Covid appropriate behaviour.
