Mangaluru: Adoor Ganesh Rao, a veteran `maddale` artiste of Thenku Thittu Yakshagana form breathed his last due to cardiac arrest on Tuesday, December 11.
Ganesh Rao was 50. Sources from his family informed that he was undergoing treatment for a liver disease at a private hospital in Deralakatte. He was born to Late Krishna Rao and Parvathi in the year 1968. His father Krishna Rao was also an artiste of `Chende` in Yakshgana. Though he entered Yakshagana as a ‘maddale’ artiste, he was a master in Chende and Bhagavathike (Yakshagana playback singing) also. During his 35 years of service to Yakshgana, he performed at both national and international levels.
Ganesh Rao is survived by his wife Sheela, son Anirudh and daughter Anushree.
