Mangaluru: In what could court a fresh controversy, the Hindu Mahasabha has decided to hold the mourning rituals (tithi) of Chief Minister Siddarmaiah.
Addressing a press meet at the Press Club here on Monday, November 16, State Spokesperson of the Mahasabha, Dharmendra said, “As Siddaramaiah has never catered to the woes of Hindus and has always been biased for vote-bank, the Mahasabha considers him dead. Hence we will be holding his mourning rituals as per the direction of our higher-ups. The date is not yet finalized.”
Holding CM Siddarmaiah responsible for the Madikeri incident and the clashes that followed throughout the state, Dharmendra demanded his resignation. He said that a memorandum urging dissolution of the state government will submitted the governor if the CM refuses to quit.
Dharmendra also said that the Mahasabha will lodge a police case against renowned litterateur Girish Karnad on Tuesday, November 17, alleging that he had hurt the sentiments of the Hindus by speaking for Tipu during the Tipu Jayanti.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary of the Mahasabha, Rajesh Pavitran said that a website devoted to Nathuram Godse, the Hindutva activist who killed Mahatma Gandhi, was launched on November 15, in order to commemorate the day Godse was hanged- as ‘Balidan Diwas’.
According to the Mahasabha, the website was a ‘small homage for Godse’s contributions’ to India.
