Mangaluru: A person from the City cheated foreigner of Rs. 7 lakh to start his own hotel. However, the police have been successful in recovering the money from the fraud.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said a woman named Thiofel from France was working at private company, and residing at an apartment in Chilimbi since last one year. An unknown man borrowed Rs. 7 lakh from Thiofel.
Thiofel is a cyclist, and hence shared that she was cheated of money to one of her cyclist friends who guided her to lodge a complaint in this regard. Deputy Commissioner of Police Hariram Shankar and his team investigated the case and traced the accused. Further, the father of the accused agreed to return money.
Though accused has not been arrested, he has been warned with orders to come to the police station whenever called for investigation, he added.
