Mangalore Varsity to set up V. S. Acharya Study Centre for holistic devpt of coastal region

Mangaluru: Mangalore University is planning to set up the V. S. Acharya Study Centre for the complete development of twin coastal districts Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

Speaking to NewsKarnataka Prof. P. S. Yadapadithaya, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University informed, “It is a multidisciplinary proposal which covers the entire coastal region. To commemorate the incredible contribution of Dr. V. S. Acharya we are planning to start the study centre in his name. The study centre will offer certificate courses, diploma courses and research projects which include a pin to plane areas of interest of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.”

“In all, Fishing, Agriculture, Beedi rolling, the Tile industry, Small and Cottage industries, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises sectors (MSME), Unique culture and tradition of Tulunadu, etc. will be studied here systematically. The political, social, cultural, and economic sectors of coastal districts will be studied in a comprehensive manner and research, publication and distribution of these studies will be done,” he mentioned.

“The researches on the above said topics also will be considered for awarding PhD. This proposal aims to introduce the unique culture of the coastal region to the world and also detailed studies and researches will contribute to further development too,” he informed.

“We will also give special attention to the development of the Tulu language and literature,” he stressed.
