Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who handed over a compensation cheque of 25 lakhs to Praveen Nettaru’s family, said that action will be taken tirelessly till the murder case is solved.

Speaking to the mediapersons after visiting BJP leader Praveen Nettaru’s residence on Thursday July 28 and offering condolences to the family he said, Praveen was the mainstay of his family and the small shop was the source of income. RS. 25 lakh from the relief fund of the Government and 25 lakh from the Bharatiya Janata Party has been given. Praveen’s family will be given all kinds of cooperation by the Party and the Government. Cooperation will be given for the future of his family, he added.

Praveen’s soul will find peace only when the murderers are punished. Praveen’s family has said the same thing. This should never happen to anyone again, he said and requested to take strict action against the organisations behind this. Punishment for the butchers will be strictly done, he said.

Further he said that, It appears that this was a premeditated act. The case of Praveen’s murder which happened earlier is condemnable. Such activities have been going on in this part for the past ten years. This incident has been carried out without fear because of the support of anti-social forces. We are not treating this as a case of murder. It is considered as a planned act of terrorism to tear apart the country. An investigation has begun, he said.

The accused may have crossed State borders. Investigation is being done in all the dimensions, some people have been arrested and the investigation will continue based on the information received from them. We are confident that the accused will be arrested very soon. The investigation is done under the direction of ADGP. He said that we are following the trail of the anti-social forces involved in atrocities for the past several years, and also investigating in this direction and observing the organisations behind them, he informed.

Speaking regarding the need for NIA in State he said, It has been requested to provide a National Investigation Team to the State of Karnataka. It has been requested to the Central government that there is a need for NIA especially for Mangaluru. On the basis of the preliminary investigation report, if additional investigation is required, it will be entrusted to the National Investigation Agency. Investigate those who supported this incident and all the networks involved in this evil act will be broken. Steps have been initiated to ban PFI. Such atrocities have taken place in various states of India and I am confident that the Central Government will take appropriate action at the national level, he noted.

It will be known from the investigation whether there is a connection between the killing of Masood and the killing of Praveen, he said and added that if the police officers have failed in their duty, that too will be investigated
