Mangaluru: A huge national flag that is 30 feet long and 20 feet wide on a new facility was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai and Member of Parliament, Nalin Kumar Kateel at Mangalore International Airport on Friday, October 28.
The flag post is right in front of the airport in the car parking area. Touted to be the largest national flag in the coastal region, the post for the enormous flag is 100 feet high. Around Rs 13 lakh was spent by the airport for the new facility.
Following instructions from the Union home department, these huge new flags have been installed at various international airports in India. While flags earlier had to be hoisted in the morning and lowered in the evening, the new flag will continue to fly high all through the day.
Airport director J T Radhakrishna, CISF officer Amith Kumar and others were present during the inauguration.
