Mangaluru: Attempt to assault Belthangady MLA made

Mangaluru: An unidentified Scorpio car followed Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja’s car, intercepted him and threatened to kill him at a weapon at Farangipete in Pudu Village of Bantwal Taluk in Dakshina Kannada District on Thursday October 13. A case has been registered at Bantwal Police Station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Harish Poonja’s driver.

Harish Poonja, who landed at Mangaluru Airport from Bengaluru on the evening of Thursday October 13. He was on his way back to Belthangady in a car when the incident took place. The miscreants first followed MLA’s car in a white Scorpio car. As soon as MLA reached near the fish market in Farangipete, the miscreant allegedly stopped their car and abused the occupants of the car and threatened to kill him by pointing out a weapon in their hand.

Meanwhile, the incident in which MLA Harish Poonja was brutally abused at Farangipete at 11.30 pm last night, and also attempting to kill him with deadly weapons has scared the people of the entire District, stated Mangaluru Division Bajrang Dal coordinator Bhujanga Kulal.

In a press release, he urged the Government to immediately arrest the culprits, inquiry the culprits, trace the network behind it and take strict action.
