Mangaluru: The banner extending Shrikrishna Janmashtami greetings which sparked a row by containing images of Nathuram Godse and V. D. Savarkar has been removed by civic authorities on Thursday August 18.

Police sources said that flex was installed by Hindu Mahasabha local leader Rajesh Pavitran. As complaint was registered against the same, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar ordered the removal of flex.

The Hindu Mahasabha had courted a controversy when they displayed a banner with a photo of Savarkar on Sunday August 14 at Surathkal flyover. Surathkal is under high vigil on account of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations
