Mangaluru: CCB arrests 12 students for selling drugs

Mangalore: CCB Police has arrested 12 students who were selling ganja to public and college students of the City. They were in possession of ganja.

CCB Police under the supervision of CCB Inspector Mahesh Prasad and Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra B. raided a residence in Sooterpete, Valencia in the City after receiving information about the sale and consumption of banned drug ganja to college students and public. The police has also seized the banned drugs and arrested students.

Shanoof Abdul Gafoor (21) from Kannur of Kerala, presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia in City, Mohammed Rasen (22) from Kannur, Kerala, and presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia, Gokul Krishnan (22) hails from Guruvayoor, Thrissur of Kerala, and presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia, Sharon Anand (19) hailing from Hosadurga of Kasaragod and presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia, Ananth K. P. (18), hailing from Rajapuram Kasaragod, and presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia, Amal (21) hailing from Kannur of Kerala, and presently residing at Sooterpete, Valencia, Abhishek (21) hailinv from Kannur, Kerala and presently residing at Attavara, Nidaal (21) hailing from Kannur, Kerala, and presently residing at Kadri Shivabagh, Shaheed M. T. P. (22) hailing from Kasaragod, and presently residing at Kadri Shivabagh, Fahad Habeeb (22), hailing from Ernakulam, Kerala, and presently residing at Kodialbail, Mohammed Risheen (22) hailing from Kannur, Kerala, and presently residing at Kadri Shivabagh, and Rizin Riyaz (22) hails from Kozhikode, Kerala, and presently residing at Kadri Shivabagh were taken into custody and a total 900 grams of ganja worth Rs. 20000 was recovered from the accused. Police also seized smoking pipes for smoking ganja, rolling papers, cash of Rs. 4,500, 11 mobile phones, and digital weighing scale were seized. The total value of seized assets were estimated to be Rs. 2,85,000. Many more youth/students are suspected to be involved in the ganja selling network and the investigation is on.

The accused were subjected to a medical examination for the consumption of drugs and it was confirmed that 11 of them had consumed the drug cannabis. Among the accused, nine students are from two private colleges in the City.A case has been registered against the accused in CEN Crime Police Station.

Among the accused, 8 students are doing final year BBA, BCA Degree, Forensic Science Degree courses, and one first year BBA Degree course at private college, Balmatta. And among 3 students who are studying in the first year of Indira Nursing College, one student is studying Nursing Degree, one Radiology, and another is studying Allied Science Degree.
