Mangaluru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police has conducted an operation at Kurnadu Village on the outskirts of the City on Thursday November 17 and seized 132 kgs of ganja and arrested two persons.
City Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar addressed a press conference here on Friday November 18, he said “The arrested have been identified as Rameez Raz (30) of Naringana in Bantwal and Abdul Khader Harris (31) of Meeyapadua in Kasaragod. The accused used Mahendra XUV for transportation. They were carrying ganja illegally in the vehicle.
It is said that the accused were smuggling large quantity of ganja, a banned drug from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Kerala in a Mahindra XUV 500 car.
White coloured Mahendra XUV 500, and 132 kgs of ganja, 2 mobile phones, 3 swords, and Rs. 2780 cash were seized.
One of the accused, Rameez Raz, was earlier booked at Konaje Police Station in three cases related to drug abuse, a case of sale of ganja, a cotton case, etc. A total of six cases have been registered in Ullal Police Station, one case related to sale of ganja and one case of attempt to murder and one case of sale of ganja at Mangaluru North Police Station.
Abdul Khader Harris, another accused, has two cases of attempt to murder registered against him at Ullal Police Station and 12 cases of assault at Manjeshwara Police Station in Kasaragod District.
