Mangaluru: Tax is being levied on rice, and even children’s pencil. This is what Rahul Gandhi called the Gabbar Singh tax the other day, said Mangaluru MLA U. T. Khader.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday July 19, he said that the BJP has levied tax on curd, wheat, and jaggery too. They are running the Government with the tax money of the poor people. Even if you take a bank cheque book, you will be taxed on it, he noted.

Further, he said, “The Government has not come up with a plan to uplift the economic condition of the common man. The Centre has not given anything to Karnataka on the GST issue. There are MPs who have to question this but they aren’t. The BJP Government has cheated us and filled its treasure. The economic situation of the country has completely collapsed. Where is the money that has been collected burdening the people with tax? It’s a forecast of danger. Our country is in a critical situation. The Government is treating the people of the country as enemies. People don’t know what the Government is doing. The Congress will protest on this issue in the coming days. Rahul Gandhi wasquestioned by Enforcemeng Directorate for 52 hours. However, Amrit Paul was questioned for only two hours in the PSI case, he observed.

Khader added, “State-level agitation will be held on Thursday July 21 over ED probe. GST is a good scheme introduced by Congress. But the BJP is executing it very badly.”
