Mangaluru: Congress activists staged a protest in front of the Taluk Administration Building here on Wednesday January 25 against the Tahasildar’s decision to lease out the Old Verandah building near the Taluk Office to a BJP worker to run a canteen illegally.
Addressing the protesters, Former Minister Abhaychandra Jain said the Tahasildar had maintained secrecy in the public tender called in this regard with the intention of awarding the canteen contract to a BJP worker. However, even though a Congress workers had applied for the same, the Tahasildar, as per the instructions of the MLA, had accepted the application of a BJP workers and decided to award the canteen contract, he alleged.
He warned that the Congress would continue its protest if the process of awarding canteen contracts was not made transparent.
