Mangaluru: The City and South Block Congress Committee of Mangaluru South Assembly constituency staged a protest in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha here in the City on Saturday July 2 against the Agnipath project of the Central Government.
The protest was led by former MLA J. R. Lobo. Slamming the Central Government, he said, “The BJP has sown anti-national seeds and tried to divide it through the Agneepath project. At a time when there are no job opportunities and the economy is collapsing, the government’s scheme will push the country further into degeneration.
Employments are not being created in the country and there is no investment. An attempt is being made to sow the seeds of poison through such a scheme. Let the Government do the work of creating employment for the youth. Agnipath is not the answer, it is a political weapon. I condemn this,” he observed.
He further said that Agnipath is a politically motivated BJP weapon. “Everyone should oppose the Agnipath project which will destroy the country,” he said.
Former MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mangaluru City Corporation member Shashidhar Hegde, Praveen Chandra Alva, Abdul Rauf, Abdul Latif, former member Prakash Salian, Padmanabha Amin, Backward Classes District President Vishwas Kumar Das and others participated in the protest.
