Mangaluru: Dussehra in City to be grand this year

Mangaluru: It has been decided to celebrate Mangaluru Dussehra in a grand manner this time. The festival attracts the attention of the world and gathers millions of people.

As the State Government recently decided to organise Mysuru Dussehra at the international level this time, Kudroli Shri Gokarnanatha Constituency Committee under the leadership of Former Union Minister B. Janardana Poojary has decided to organise Mangaluru Dussehra in a grand manner as well.

Dussehra, which has been celebrated symbolically due to Corona for the past 2 years, will be celebrated with grandeur this time, giving an upliftment to the local economy and an opportunity for millions to participate in the celebration.

In the month of September, Kudroli and Mangaluru will be lit up with attractive electric lights for Dussehra as well as through organising special and different activities for ten days. The creation of idols of Shri Sharada Mathe and Navadurga are worshiped during Navratri will also be seen.

An artistically designed Kalamantapa will also be prepared at the Gokarnanatha Kalyana Mantapam of Sri Kshetra.

In the world-famous Mysuru Dasara, Sridevi is carried in a procession on an Ambari, while in Mangaluru’s Dasara, the Navadurga along with the Utsavamurti of Sharadambe are carried out in a Shobha Yatra. There has not been a Shobhayatra for 2 years, and this time there is a determination to have a colourful Dussehra procession, it is estimated that lakhs of people are expected to join.

Mangaluru Dasara too will be attractive like how Mahatobhara Sri Mangaladevi Temple, which has caught the eye of the world through its traditional rituals and also grand festivities at Carstreet Sri Venkataramana Temple.

An initial decision has already been taken to celebrate the Dussehra celebrations with grandeur in a pattern that leads to the gathering of devotees. Due to this, the cyity of Mangaluru will be beautified with electric lights and the sound of tiger dances will be heard from every corner.
