Mangaluru: Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti and Sahitya Academy in association with St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore Coastal Wikimedians User Group, Mangaluru CIS-A2K, Bengaluru, organised a Arebhashe Dictionary release programme at SAC on Saturday August 6.
Lakshminarayana Kajegadde, President, Karnataka Arebhasha Samskruti and Sahitya Academy presided over the function.
The dictionary was unvieled by Former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi Kannada University, Professor B. A. Vivek Rai.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “I think the creation of a Arebhashe vocabulary is a special contribution in terms of the development of a small language called Arbhashe. Such a small language should be preserved and developed in accordance with the modern context,” he added.
Retired Professor at the University of Madras Professor C. Ramaswamy, Rev. Fr. Melvin Joseph, Fr. Pinto SJ as well as the Principal of SAC Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ spoke on the occasion.
Lecturers and dignitaries from different colleges as well as students of the college were present for the event.
