Mangaluru: Former MLA Moideen Bava alleged that Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty has made an open threat with regard to ‘love jihad’ to Congressmen. Bharat Shetty threatened Congressmen that he will not spare our workers if they indulged in practicing love jihad. So does it mean that thousands of Hindu, Muslim and Christian Congress workers present in rally have indulged themselves in practicing love jihad,” he questioned.

“Congress party does not have to pay for petrol and bring people together. Bharath Shetty made this statement out of fear of losing the next elections. I had gone and given Rs. 25,000 on humanitarian grounds in the case of burning of house in Surathkal. Rs. 1 lakh each will be given to the family of Atish, who was killed in a road accident, Jaleel, who was killed by miscreants, and Purushottam Poojary, who was injured in the cooker blast,” he said.

“MLAs visit only to take pictures,” he said. Wasn’t he ashamed to say this? He should publicly apologise for his derogatory remarks,” Bawa stressed.

Surathkal Block Congress President Umesh Dandekeri, Gurupura Block President Surendra Kambali, Mallikarjun and others were present at the press meet.
