Mangaluru: The old arch bridge at Kuloor is in a very bad shape and the work on a new bridge adjacent to it was started a few months ago. But now the public is wondering why the work has been quietly stalled for months and construction delayed.
The CPI (M)’s Panjimogaru Zonal Committee has launched a banner movement in this regard, which is a mockery of the District Administration. It has been many years since both sides of the old bridge in Kuloor collapsed. Recently, the highway over the bridge was asphalted ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Panambur. But within a few days, the asphalt work got dilapidated and people were angry. Since then, the work on the new bridge has gained momentum, which has now been stopped, abruptly.
Only the pillar work has been done and people are wondering how many more years it will take to complete it. The construction of the Pumpwell Flyover took more than ten years and had earlier led to massive trolling. Now banners have been put up here and there asking if the Kuloor Bridge will also be the same. The concerned District Administration, people’s representatives and MPs need to pay attention to the work to be carried out urgently before the collapse of the Kuloor Bridge.
