Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is planning to exempt peiole from land conversion, monolithic design maps and property cards for khata registration, as applicable only to the land that has been given up for road widening, sewerage pipelines and other development works.

It has been decided to submit a proposal to the Government in this regard. Widening of various roads, installation of sewer pipes and other development works have been carried out by the Corporation. TDR (Transferable Development Right) is given to landowners who give up land for road widening. But thereafter, landlords do not have to wander around for various reasons, including land conversion, single site design map, etc. to register the khata.

The land owners are refusing to convert the land which has been left for road widening, development works and will be left in the near future and get the design plan from the authority and then get it done in the Corporation, which has delayed the process of road widening and other development works that it is not possible to issue property cards to lands where land has not been converted due to a technical problem.

The Urban Land Survey Department has also expressed its opinion.
