Mangaluru: Due to Increased water level in Netravati River, connecting boat between Harekala-Adyar has been suspended. MLA U. T. Khader visited the place and received the memorandum from the public seeking permission to walk on Harekala Dam/bridge where the work is in progress.
For the past several days, heavy rains have been falling across Southern Coastal regions, and the Netravati River is flowing beyond danger level. Due to this, the Harekala-Adyaru ferry service has been suspended, and the public has to use detours to reach Adyar, Farangipet and Mangalore.
In view of safety, the public has been restricted to use the bridge. In this regard, MLA U. T. Khader held discussion with officials of Minor Irrigation Department, bridge contractor, Revenue Department Officials, Police Department Officials, local Gram Panchayat members, and Development Officers on the spot.
In this regard, a meeting has been called at the Panchayat office on Wednesday July 6 and Khader has instructed them to take necessary measures to allow them to use the bridge by keeping in mind the safety of the public .
