Mangaluru: Lone tusker spotted in river at Belthangady

Mangaluru: Three days ago, a lone tusker having bath in the River Mrityunjaya of Charmady area at around 3.00 pm in the Hosamatha area here.

According to the eyewitnesses, the elephant played in the water for more than half an hour and then headed downwards. The video of the incident was captured by the locals on their mobile phones and is now being circulated on social media.

The wild elephant was spotted in Charmady late at night and was found roaming in the Dumbettu surroundings of Mundaje. This was noticed by the locals and the wild elephant was immediately chased to the forest.

On one side of the river, where the elephant has taken a dip, there is a power project, a cocoa plantation and on the other side there are human habitations such as Hosamatha, Deewaje, and Korangai among others.
