Mangaluru: Man arrested for stealing arecanut

Mangaluru: Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing arecanuts from a farm at Bolangadi Panemangaluru.

The accused has been identified as Manjunath Nagaraj Bhovi (50), a resident of Kashekodi in Baltila village. According to sources, he was arrested based on an investigation into a theft complaint filed at the Bantwal Town police station by Farm owner Ivan Thoras.

The theft was reported on December 29. About 120 kg of areca nut crop, which had been left to dry in the farmhouse’s front farm had been stolen, stated the complainant.

On December 30, police acted quickly and succeeded in arresting Bhovi. The scooter that was used in the crime, cash, and up to 105 kg of stolen betel nuts were all recovered, informed the police.
