Mangaluru: Former Minister K. Abhayachandra Jain has said that the MLA of Moodabidri, who claims himself as poor even though he is earning crores by contracting works to his relatives, should now prove his richness by declaring how many crores of rupees he owns, he challenged.

He was addressing a protest organised by the Block Congress in front of the Taluk Administration Soudha here on Wednesday March 1 against corruption in various Government departments, including the Talukuoffice, and the functioning of MLA Umanath Kotian.

“The MLAs who used to say that the previous MLAs were rich have now become ten times more rich by increasing their assets,” he alleged. Those who used to drive rickshaws have now become crorepatis. The relatives of MLAs too have become rich, he alleged.

“The goodness of MLA is now shown in the work of demolishing IB, and encouraging sand smugglers. He alleged that the MLAs were involved in many corruptions such as making Nandini milk dairy for party workers in front of the Taluk Administration building without obtaining permission from the municipality. He said that the MLAs, who are doing all other works at a very fast pace, should work on the Design Of underground Drainage (UGD) and the market,” he said.
