Mangaluru: Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik has hinted at contesting the 2023 Assembly elections independently. Belagavi, Bagalakote, Mangaluru, Udupi and other districts’ party workers are pressurising to contest from 2 constituencies in Belagavi City, Teradala and Jamakhandi in Bagalakote, Karkala, Puttur, Chikkamagaluru and Sringeri in Southern Districts.
“Since 2014, I had thought that the BJP would give me a ticket. We were the ones who built the BJP party but the BJP has given us constant trouble. The party won in the name of Hindus but later exploited the community. I have decided to contest for the election and if I win a staunch Hindutva election, I will support the BJP men who are pro-Hindutva.
He said, “The BJP is currently full of Congressmen and those with Hindutva backgrounds have no respect in the BJP. The workers have decided not to form a new party and have decided to contest independently. There is no question of going to the Congress or the BJP. I will announce constituency to contest from in the first week of December.”
