Mangaluru: Sullia Tahasildar has issued an important notice to the farmers who have installed agricultural pumps in Payaswini River from Sullia Town to Sampaje.

Due to water problem in Sullia Town, farmers who have installed agricultural pumps in Payaswini River from Sullia Town to Sampaje have to use it only once in two days for their agricultural use, stated Sullia Tahasildar in a release.

The water flow of the Payaswini River, which is the source of drinking water for Sullia Town, has stopped, and the water flow has stopped because the farmers above the pumpset installed in the Payaswini river from Sullia to Sampaje are digging pits in the river and using the water for agriculture. Due to this, there is a problem for drinking water in Sullia.

Town Panchayat Chief Officer has written to Sullia Tahasildar for supplementary measures to provide drinking water to Town residents. It is against this background that this action has been taken.
