Mangaluru: The body of 37-year-old Muralidhar Rai, a resident of Shakthinagara in Mangaluru, who was on duty with the Sashastr Seema Bal (SSB) in Bhopal, died of a heart attack and his body was brought to his native place.

His body was brought to Mangaluru airport on Tuesday January 25 and was honoured by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar M. R. and other officials were present.

The body of the deceased soldier was later shifted to the mortuary of AJ Hospital. The last rites will be performed at the soldier’s house in Shakthinagara.

Muralidhar Rai, who had joined the Sashastra Seema Bal as a constable in 2007, was on duty in Bhopal as a Havaldar. He was scheduled to return home on January 24 on a monthly leave.

Muralidhar is survived by his wife and a six-month-old child.
