Mangaluru: A mock drill by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) team was held at Ullala Beach here on Sunday June 26. Training and demonstration of staff was organised along with mock drill.
Demonstration on how to be ready to control disastrous situation that arises in case of oil spill from ship was held. The staff was told to be on alert if oil content is detected in sea water. Demonstration on how to find oil content on beach sand and water too were made.
In the background of MV Princess Miral with 220 metric tonnes sinking off Ullala Coast at Battampady, ICG, and Dakshina Kannada District Administration are on due to oil spill scare. Alert was given through Coast Guard Ship and NDRF and Fire and Emergency Services Department. DK Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. Will monitor the further action in case of oil spillage.
